July 14

Note to self: Drink some French wine. It's Bastille Day.

Charlie Keegan

The sexiest actor/model you’ve never heard of. So handsome it hurts, and the charming South African accent makes it all the more tantalizing.

The winner of the 2007 Fleur du Cap award for most promising actor, South African native Charlie Keegan graduated from the University of Cape Town in 2008 with an Honours degree in Theater and Performance. Charlie has been featured in TV commercials and theater performances, including touring with the prestigious Royal Shakespeare Company as Ferdinand in The Tempest. He stars as Jonathan Grant in League of Glory, a television soccer drama series.

It Gets Better (now more than 30,000 entries)

In 2011, Keegan played the role of Christian Roodt in Oliver Hermanus' Skoonheid (Beauty)*, which was chosen for the Official Selection at the Cannes International Film Festival. It’s a film about self-hatred, homophobia and racism. The first Afrikaans language film ever to be screened at Cannes, it won the Queer Palm award, which honors LGBT films. Further recognition came by being named the best South African feature at the Durban International Film Festival. Skoonheid will be released on DVD on October 9, 2012.

Charlie has also done a number of modeling campaigns for numerous international brands including Hugo Boss, Abercrombie and Fitch (Bruce Weber in Miami 2006) and Levis. Keegan was featured in the Cosmopolitan magazine 100 Hottest Men segment for 2008.

*Skoonheid (Beauty): The story is about 40-something Francois (Deon Lotz), an Afrikaans man with a wife and daughter who is living with a big secret – he is attracted to men and meets up with other men on a farm outside of town to have sex. Their homosexual encounters are well concealed, and they share a conspiracy of silence. Alone, angry and frustrated, he can’t confess his true desires to anyone. Then Francois meets Christian (Charlie Keegan), the 22-year-old son of an old army buddy. Christian is young and very handsome, and Francois becomes madly obsessed with him. He has to have him – no matter what. When Christian starts to show interest in the daughter of Francois, things spiral out of control. Note: I am not recommending this film. While I have not seen it, reviews have been generally negative. That’s a pity, because on paper the plot sounds intriguing.

However, we can all perv over some photos of Mr. Keegan. Enjoy, gentlemen.
